The 10th edition of Light Middle East, the lighting design and technology industry's signature event, was held Oct. 6 to Oct. 8 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Of the GCC lighting systems market, Saudi Arabia represents a 37 percent share and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar make up 28 and 19 percent, respectively, making the region the most relevant location for the Light Middle East event, which features 370 exhibitors from 33 countries.
Sustainable solutions were the innovations with the highest demand during the event. “The Gulf region’s lighting systems market is currently valued at US$2.5 billion and is estimated to grow annually by as much as 12 percent over the next five years, powered by high demand in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar,” CEO of Messe Frankfurt Middle East Ahmed Pauwels told Gulf News Journal.
“These countries are also actively encouraging the utilization of environmentally conscious and sustainable lighting technologies, spurring demand for tailor-made solutions that are the focal point of Light Middle East 2015. This is the place to meet new contacts, expand business networks, discuss new trends and technological developments, and source new products.”
The growing light and technology market is expected to be worth $3.5 billion (USD) by 2020 due to the region's high demand.
