Next year will see the opening of a new luxury Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Mecca, which will be the largest hotel operated by the brand in the world.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, which operates the Four Points by Sheraton chain of four-star hotels, is working with the Sulaiman Abdulaziz Al Rajhi Real Estate Investments Company to develop the hotel in Mecca’s Al Naseem neighborhood.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts operates numerous hotel brands, with more than 50 accommodation options across the Middle East. The company’s portfolio includes multiple lifestyle brands ranging from budget hotels to luxury resorts.
The new Four Points is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2016 with more than 1,000 rooms and direct access to central Mecca through a tunnel. That’s good news for Mecca as the number of travelers coming to Saudi Arabia to perform religious duties at the country’s sacred sites continues to rise every year.
“As religious travel continues to grow in Saudi Arabia, Four Points is the perfect brand to meet the rising demand for affordable yet innovative accommodation options in Makkah,” Starwood Hotels & Resorts President for Europe, Africa and the Middle East Michael Wale said.
The company currently operates 10 hotels in Saudi Arabia with another nine under development.
“Saudi Arabia is our second largest market in the Middle East, and we look forward to more growth opportunities in the Kingdom,” Wale said.
