MasterCard is shaking up its management team in the Middle East and Africa, starting with the appointment of Raghu Malhotra as MENA regional president.
From January 1, 2016, Malhotra will be stepping into the shoes of Michael Miebach, who will be moving to the global credit company’s headquarters in New York to take up the position of chief product officer.
Malhotra will take charge of delivering high-quality customer service and evolving the company’s financial technology across the 39 markets of the MENA region, plus sub-Saharan Africa.
Malhotra is a 15-year MasterCard veteran with vast experience doing business in the region and holding various leadership roles for MasterCard. He earned a degree in Commerce from the University of Delhi before getting his MBA from the Melbourne Business School at the University of Melbourne.
Ann Cairns, MasterCard’s president of International Markets, thanked Miebach for his service as outgoing president and welcomed Malhotra into his new position.
"During his tenure, Michael has helped shape and build MasterCard's business and reputation for excellence in this exciting region, and I am grateful to him and delighted that the business is transitioning to a new and dynamic leader in Raghu," Cairns said.
