UAE Society of Engineers builds engineering profession with American University collaboration

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) chapter of the Society of Engineers (SOE) recently partnered with engineering programs at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK).

Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, president of the Society of Engineers – UAE, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hassan Al Alkim, president of AURAK, in a ceremony, cementing the relationship between the two organizations.

As part of the agreement, SOE and AURAK will exchange engineering expertise and organize engineering events, conferences and seminars. The goal is to develop the UAE’s engineering educational programs and industrial operations.

The SOE sees the partnership with the university as an important step in developing the next generation of Emirati engineers. AURAK and the SOE are already in talks to plan training courses, seminars and conferences to facilitate the exchange of engineering expertise and experience.

“The Society of Engineers – UAE believes that the importance of investing in the training and rehabilitation of engineers is one of the most important areas of engineering development and towards building our future generations,” Maidoor said.

Prof. Mousa Mohsen of AURAK said the collaboration will prove important not just in exchanging information between the UAE’s engineers but also to foster new relationships between them.

“This agreement will not only contribute to the engineering knowledge the two parties exchange, Mohsen said. “But also create ways to communicate between engineers from both associations in order to improve the profession of engineering and activate its role in the United Arab Emirates.”
