The Bahrain Public Transport Company, which now operates all the Gulf nation’s public buses, is sending its network planners to the U.K. for an intensive public transport training program.
The decision to send employees for training comes as part of the Bahrain Public Transport Company’s (BPTC) effort to create an efficient workforce to serve the public transport sector. BPTC's employees will focus on raising the standards of Bahrain's public transport system during their training.
Three BPTC Network and Operations Department employees will be in Birmingham and Manchester for two weeks of technical training. There they will learn critical ways to schedule bus routes and staff and learn vital duties for bus drivers. They will also be trained in public transport software systems and visit control centers to see how buses operate in some of the U.K.’s biggest cities.
BPTC General Manager Borja Bermudez said the training programs are important for ensuring efficient and safe operations for the Gulf nation’s buses.
"It is imperative that we provide our network planners with the appropriate training and development framework to improve their skills capacity so they are well-equipped to support the requirements of public transport in Bahrain, enhance the passenger experience and carry out their duties in the highest industry standards,” Bermudez said.
