Ericsson and Ooredoo Group, headquartered in Qatar, recently finalized a memorandum of understanding that unites the companies in a project to develop 5G technologies.
The goal is to create 5G technology requirements, cases and deployment scenarios for next generation network developments.
"Ooredoo is striving to support our customers' activities in an increasingly digital, connected world and we are determined to be at the cutting edge of network technologies,” Ooredoo Group CEO Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al Thani said. “We're pleased to partner on developing next generation technologies with Ericsson, a trusted partner and a major supplier for Radio Access, Core, Transmission, OSS and BSS. We look forward to working towards developing 5G technologies together."
As part of the collaboration, the two companies will determine the adequacy of the applicability and performance of possible 5G components within a controlled test environment.
