The Saudi Arabian delegation to the B20 Summit recently called on governments around the world to root out corruption in an effort to create a more fair and stable global economy.
The B20 Summit is a part of the yearly G20 summits that bring together the world’s largest powers to broker deals and tackle global issues. The B20 Summit acts as a forum for the business communities in those countries. This year’s summit was held in Antalya, Turkey.
The Saudi delegation was led by Abdulrahman Al Zamil, who leads the Council of Saudi Chambers. Al Zamil took the lead in business meetings aimed at giving G20 sound economic policy suggestions. Recommendations to come out of the meetings addressed trade, infrastructure investments, financing, recruitment, fighting corruption and developing small businesses.
Chief among Al Zamil’s concerns was corruption, which he said has damaging economic and social effects. Al Zamil’s address highlighted the importance of greater international efforts to dismantle corruption. That, he said, will pave the way for sustainable development.
Al Zamil applauded Saudi Arabia’s efforts to fight corruption, which are being spearheaded by King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
Al Zamil
also said it is an issue that must be addressed if the B20 summit is to set an effective course for international trade and commerce.
