The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) joined more than 500 publishing houses this week at the 40th annual Kuwait International Book Fair, which runs through Saturday.
Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud, Kuwait's minister of information and minister of state for youth affairs, visited SBA's booth shortly after the fair opened. SBA officials presented Al-Humoud with a copy of "Sirat Madinah" ("History of a City"), the most recent offering penned by Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi of the Supreme Council and ruler of Sharjah.
The SBA, which came into being in December 2014 as the result of an Emiri decree, is focused on showcasing writers and their roles in the emirate's society.
Al-Humoud praised Sharjah and its citizens for their dedication to keeping cultural experiences available and the arts alive in the emirate.
SBA Chairman Rakkad Al Ameri said the organization's participation in the book fair is an example of the emirate's commitment to maintaining relationships with Kuwait and the other UAE nations.
The SBA booth was manned by SBA Deputy Director of Libraries in the Eastern Zone
Fadel Hussien and Faisal Al Naboodah, an international sales executive for SBA.
The SBA plans to offer training programs taught by its publishers as well as awards programs. Also in the offing is the Sharjah International Book Fair and the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival.
