Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO and President Hamad Buamim thanked Dubai Chamber International Offices Director Omar Khan and his staff for supporting the Dubai chamber's new investments, projects and initiatives aimed at improving connections to other chambers in the Gulf Cooperation Council, Commonwealth of Independent States and Africa.
Buamim's comments came earlier this week at the chamber's annual weeklong meeting with representatives of its international offices.
The representatives also spent time discussing the Dubai chamber's ongoing efforts to promote and serve its member businesses. They shared ideas about how to keep moving forward and face challenges.
During the meeting, attendees had their choice of a variety of seminars, workshops and educational sessions led by representatives of the four Dubai Chamber International Offices in Baku,
Azerbaijan; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Erbil, Iraq; and Accra, Ghana.
Buamim said the meeting was a good venue during which the local chamber could talk to international office representatives about areas in which the international office could improve and to share ideas with the office about ways to help boost the area's economy, make Dubai more attractive to potential international investors and make the United Arab Emirates a major player in the global marketplace.
At the meeting, Buamim said that the Dubai chamber would open two new offices in the first quarter of 2016, one in Mozambique and one in Kenya, bringing the total number of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry offices to six. He said plans are to open two more offices, one in Brazil and one in China, in the near future.
The Dubai chamber also honored its Azerbaijan office as the winner of the 2015 Distinguished International Office of the Year.
