In an effort to increase trade opportunities between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Greece, officials from the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently met with a Greek trade delegation.
The meeting was opened by Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce board member Hamad Al-Awadhi, who deemed the meeting a good start for discussions about strategic partnerships, trade exchanges and technology.
“Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 came to add a new dimension to the features of the emirate," he said. "It focuses on diversifying the economic base, increasing investments, providing the necessary capitals and approving the economic approaches and bases which are built on knowledge and modern technology in the different targeted economic sectors.”
Al-Awadhi told the Greek officials at the meeting that Abu Dhabi's location, evolving infrastructure and transportation networks were all draws for foreign investment. He expressed hope that the meeting would be the beginning of economic cooperation between Greece and the UAE, noting that both had tremendous offerings in the areas of health care, education, industry, renewable energy, tourism and financial services.
“Through your visit, we are pleased to take a look at the most prominent available investment opportunities in Greece and the incentives given to companies, especially that the Emirati investments are present in a large number of countries across the globe and that Emirati companies always try to benefit from all the available opportunities in international markets,” Al-Awadhi said.
Rashad Mabger, chair of the Greek trade delegation, urged Abu Dhabi entrepreneurs to consider making more investments with Greek entities. He said the Arabic-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Development -- of which he is the secretary-general -- looks forward to helping Emirati investors and businesses.
