The Oman American Business Center (OABC) has unveiled a series of workshops to help local small business owners and entrepreneurs start new enterprises.
The workshops for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are organized in cooperation between the OABC and the international law firm Dentons.
More than 50 Omani entrepreneurs and small business owners have signed up to learn new ways to grow startup businesses.
The first
session of the workshops, titled “Setting Up a Business in Oman,” took place last week at TheLoungeOman. The workshop from Dentons Associate Yasser Taqi covered business governance and legal topics.
The second workshop is scheduled for Jan. 10 and will focus on the process of starting a business in Oman. The final workshop’s date will be announced for sometime in February. That edition will give participants an overview of relevant laws pertaining to employment, contracts and taxes and dispute resolution.
OABC Chairman Ali Daud said developing entrepreneurs and giving small businesses the tools for success are crucial for the growth and diversification of Oman’s economy.
“In light of their vital role as seen in developed economies, it is important that (small businesses) in the sultanate receive the proper counseling, training and mentoring needed to fully harness the opportunities available to them,” Daud said. “As an organization made up of business experts and professionals from a wide range of fields, we have the necessary expertise to provide them with the proper support and know-how they need to succeed. We extend this to the SME Authority and all the SMEs in the Sultanate.”
