Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Domain Names (TAG-Domains) will soon be able to offer .om domains after receiving its official accreditation from the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Oman (TRAO).

The .om sites are considered "top-level domains" of the Sultanate of Oman.

TRAO announced the accreditation at a press conference earlier this month, at which TAG-Domains Executive Director Mahmoud Lattouf gave a presentation on his company's work and its connections with the missions of its parents company, Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP). AGIP will be the company that actually holds the accreditation.

AGIP has been an international player in intellectual property rights since 1972. The group works with governments, government agencies and nongovernmental organizations to develop solutions and policies that protect intellectual property. Past clients and partners have included Bahrain, Lebanon, Yemen, Oman, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the World Trade Organization and the World Intellectual Property Organization.

AGIP's services cover patents, trademarks, designs, copyrights and domain names. AGIP is the first intellectual property firm to become an ICANN accredited registrar.

ICANN is a private, nonprofit company that is based in California and responsible for regulating the identifiers that make website and domain names unique. The company also steers policy decisions that govern how the names should function.
