Microsoft has designated 47 teachers from Qatar as Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) Experts in honor of their commitment to innovative teaching techniques and utilization of technology.
“Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts are inspiring examples of educators applying new ways of teaching and learning in their classrooms that motivate students and empower them to achieve more,” Microsoft Gulf Regional Education Leader Ahmed Ameen Ashour said.
Ashour said Qatar now has the most teachers participating in the program out of any Gulf nation, a development that reflects an organized, countrywide effort in tandem with the Ministries of Education to develop Qatar into a regional education hub. Only four teachers were recognized last year.
“This initiative is well aligned with our strategy to develop national legislation to encourage technology transfers, support innovation and establish global contractual partnerships in the education sector," Director of Training and Educational Development Center of the Supreme Education Council Muna Al-Kuwari said. "Putting technology into a classroom will enable us to strengthen our economy and create greater talent. We value Microsoft’s support and we look forward to a long-term association with the company to further support educators in Qatar.”
The Qatar teachers are among 5,600 selected across the world this year. Some 300 of these, including representatives from Qatar, will participate in March's Microsoft Exchange in Budapest, Hungary. The exchange is designed to be a central point where accomplished educators from across the world can gather and share best practices and ideas on the latest educational tools.
