The Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) appointed Jamie Wilson as the company's new CEO on Monday.
Wilson is taking the reins at what company officials described as a pivotal time in Omran's development. The company recently completed a restructuring of its long-term development strategy that syncs the organization's goals with Oman's overall development initiatives.
Wilson was selected for his extensive international background in real estate, tourism and hotel development in such destinations as Portugal, South Africa and Dubai. In all, he has been working in the industry for over 25 years.
Omran officials said the company is eager to pursue larger and broader projects after laying a foundation of smaller projects over the past decade.
These projects include a sports venue in Mussanah‚ the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Saraya Bandar Jissah and Ras Al Hadd developments, the Alila Jabal Akhdar Resort and the Atana hotel.
Omran is the official tourism development agency of the Sultinate of Oman. Established in 2005, Omran drives investment, development, and growth in the country's tourism industry, focusing on establishing new destinations, stewarding existing destinations, and spurring urban development.
