JAQ, a new fuel cell charger manufactured by Swedish company myFC, will be exclusively sold, distributed and marketed in the United Arab Emirates by telecommunications company du thanks to a service agreement recently struck between the two companies.
JAQ chargers create their own electricity using recyclable, single-use PowerCards, which are water- and salt-based and hold enough power to fully charge a cellphone once. The cards can be disposed of with regular trash, as they leave no carbon footprint and contain no hazardous chemicals. Du will also have the exclusive rights for the sales and marketing of the PowerCards used with the JAQ chargers.
The chargers will be available in the UAE beginning in the second quarter of this year.
Du operates shops in several UAE locations including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Qwain.
“We are very happy to work together with this region’s most forward thinking operator," myFC CEO
Bjorn Westerholm said. "We work toward and care about end-users ability to continue to stay online – and when necessary charge their smartphone completely free from the electricity grid and wall. More importantly, it is a win-win situation. The operator has access to a great deal of data created by Web-hungry consumers online building top line revenue, and consumers are receiving bandwidth, whilst power is going green with environmentally friendly, future-proof instant power on the go."
Fahad Al Hassawi, du's chief commercial officer, agreed.
“We are thrilled to have joined hands with myFC to bring JAQ exclusively to our customers in the UAE,"
Al Hassawi
said. "This environmentally friendly and colorful charging device will add value to our customers lives as it can provide instant charging power to them regardless of where they are.
“Providing our customers with exclusive products and services lets them know that they are at the forefront of all our business decisions and we look forward to offering them this new product in 2016,” Al Hassawi said.
