The Dubai Real Estate Institute and the International Real Estate Federation partnered with the United Nations to bring 150 thinkers together Sunday and Monday in Dubai to discuss the future of cities.
The assembled specialists at the Urban Thinkers Campus strategized within the framework of the United Nations Habitat's Urban Strategy 2036 plan and looked at successful examples from cities around the world that have applied principles of smart growth, inclusiveness, economic health and sustainability.
Dubai Real Estate Institute CEO Mahmoud El Burai said the gathering was broken down into the three specific themes: "The City We Need is Smart and Sustainable," "The City We Need is Economically Vibrant" and "The City We Need is Safe and Resilient."
"The Urban Thinkers Campus provides an important forum to share and discuss the best practices focused on 'The City We Need,'" Burai said. "We are assembling leading stakeholders including governments, private sectors, academia, children and university students to share their views on the world that we will live in 20 years from today."
