On Feb. 17 and 18, business owners and representatives from across the region will converge upon Dubai for the inaugural Commonwealth of Independent States Global Business Forum (CIS GBF 2016).
Organizers have dubbed the event "Commonwealth of Independent States: Ancient Routes – New Opportunities."
To prepare for the event, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently welcomed ambassadors and heads of missions from Armenia,
Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, and Tajikistan. The visitors were briefed by Hamad Buamim, the Dubai Chamber's president and chief executive officer.
The landmark event will include discussions on potential investments and updates on the CIS' economic forecast and predicted changes in the economic landscape.
“Alongside thought-provoking discussions, one-on-one meetings and networking opportunities, the forum opens up a gate of opportunities for Dubai and CIS businesses to explore mutual investment sectors and joint ventures in their particular areas of expertise and competitiveness,” Buamim said.
CIS GBF is expected to draw attendees including heads of states and governments, ministers and dignitaries, and officials and chief executives from global corporations, banks and other businesses. It is sponsored by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE's vice president and prime minister and ruler of Dubai.
Assisting the Dubai Chamber with organizing the event and developing content for it are representatives from the British group the Economist Intelligence Unit.
