Attune Technologies introduced two innovative apps for doctors, pathologists and other medical professionals at the recent Arab Health 2016 in Dubai.
The Singapore-based health care IT company, which has pioneered cloud-based products to help the health care ecosystem, has launched DoCoM and PathWorks.
DoCoM is a collaboration tool for doctors and professionals involved in patient health decisions, while PathWorks enables pathologists and doctors to approve lab reports on the go.
"The DoCoM and PathWorks apps are first of their kind in the market and are designed exclusively for the health care professionals," Attune Technologies co-founder and Chief Medical Officer Anand Gnanaraj told Gulf News Journal. "They are slated to be game changers, not only impacting the MENA (Middle East-North Africa) region but the entire health care industry globally. It is a challenge for doctors and pathologists everywhere to stay in touch regularly, and receive real-time patient information and approve reports. Now, with the ease of these mobile apps, it will be possible for them to access information from anywhere, anytime."
The apps provide a secure platform for health care professionals to collaborate and help doctors save time so they can focus on patients instead of administrative transactions. The best part is that they are cloud based, allowing doctors to get information from laboratory information systems (LIS) or hospital information systems (HIS) without manual intervention. Also, data entered on the app syncs directly with the information system, providing seamless data management.
DoCoM allows doctors to manage cases on the go and send instant click-based responses, saving significant time. It also helps maximize efficiency with real-time patient updates and by compartmentalizing the information into multiple groups such as discharges, procedures, tests, records, etc. to give doctors a clear picture of patient progress.
PathWorks eases the workload and reduces the time pathologists spend in the lab. It allows doctors to access patient information on the go and reduces the turnaround time significantly, allowing labs to treat more patients. The app allows doctors to view past patient records and test reports for a better understanding of the patient's ailment. It also reduces patient wait time substantially, which aides in timely treatment.
"The interesting thing about the apps is the fact that they are designed and created by doctors especially for health care professionals," Gnanaraj said. "We understand that only a doctor can truly appreciate the needs and requirements of other doctors."
To communicate the benefits of these apps in the region, Attune Technologies plans to use multiple marketing platforms to reach out to doctors.
"Doctors are Internet savvy, and, therefore, we plan to do extensive digital and social media marketing to reach them," Gnanaraj said. “Closer to home, we would be promoting these apps to our current customer base. We are certain that these apps will prove to be powerful additions to their existing Attune HIS and LIS systems."
Gnanaraj said that as these apps have the potential to go viral, the marketing efforts will be restricted to acquiring a critical mass of doctors and hospitals to adopt them and realize their true potential.
"In health care, timely communication is everything," Gnanaraj said. "There is a clear gap in communication, and apps like these are long overdue. Nothing is as powerful as an idea whose time has come, and this is certainly one of them.”
