The UAE Water Foundation highlighted its projects and services at the recent World Future Energy Summit 2016 in Abu Dhabi.
“The UAE Water Aid Foundation plays a leading role in achieving one the objectives of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation: to combat poverty and disease," UAE Water Aid Foundation Chairman Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said. "This is achieved by finding permanent solutions to water shortage, which is a key challenge that will face the world in the future. The UAE Water Aid Foundation supports global efforts to improve the living conditions of poor and disaster-stricken areas and achieve the sustainable development of all humanity. The foundation also supports international efforts to provide clean drinking water and fight water-related diseases that threaten lives."
At the summit, the foundation sowcased its mobile solar-powered desalination technology, its humanitarian efforts to provide clean drinking water to 5 million people around the world and its $1 million competition for ideas that create permanent solar powered water purification solutions.
Moving forward, the foundation is co-managing 10 projects with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment to bring clean water to approximately 60,000 people in Somalia, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Ghana, Yemen and Benin.
The World Future Energy Summit was part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the region's largest gathering focused on addressing sustainability in a global context through dialogue and collaboration.
