Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. recently signed a deal with Dubai developer Nakheel for a new hotel in Jumeirah Island's Palm Tower.
The St. Regis Dubai, The Palm will be the fifth St. Regis hotel in the UAE. The first 18 stories of the 52-story Palm Tower will feature 289 rooms and suites while the upper floors will offer 504 luxury apartments. The hotel will have an infinity pool on the tower's 50th floor and offer 360-degree views of Dubai and the gulf. The hotel will also include a restaurant on the 51st floor.
“We look forward to building a long-term relationship with Nakheel as we introduce the St. Regis brand and its exceptional bespoke hospitality to this landmark destination in Dubai,” Starwood Hotels & Resorts President for Europe, Africa and the Middle East Michael Wale said. “This signing underlines the strong demand for high-end hotel accommodation in the UAE and makes Dubai the first city in the world to boast three St. Regis hotels.”
The hotel and tower are among 10 hospitality-related projects in Dubai being managed by Nakheel. The Palm Tower will be connected to Nakheel's own Nakheel Mall, which has more than 350 shops, a movie theater, restaurants, a medical center and a gym. Tower guests will also have access to a 1.1-million-square-foot native plant garden and running trail.
“Palm Jumeirah is a global destination offering the ultimate in luxury living and leisure,” Nakheel Chairman Ali Rashid Lootah said. “Working with Starwood to open a St. Regis on The Palm reinforces what the island is all about: unrivaled, world-class facilities that set new standards for residents and tourists. The Palm Tower will be the jewel in the crown of this world-famous island and a new architectural wonder for Dubai. We are delighted that St. Regis, another name synonymous with luxury, is to manage our flagship hotel, which is set to become one of the most sought-after establishments in the region.”
The St. Regis Dubai, The Palm is expected to open in 2018.
