Oman-based telecommunications operator Omantel recently unveiled a new Internet protocol-based home broadcast service called Omantel TV+.
The service will initially be available in areas that already offer fiber-optic coverage. Subscribers will be able to access more than 450 television channels from around the world, more than 1,100 movies and more than 3,500 TV series. They will be able to watch both 3-D and HD channels, as well as record their favorite shows and movies, and browse other channels while watching any given channel. There are also simultaneous watch and record features.
“We’re expecting Omantel TV+ to be extremely popular with our customers, and our subscription packages offer the best selection of news, sports, entertainment and the latest movies," Omantel Consumer Business Unit Vice President Haitham Al Kharusi said.
The newly launched Omantel TV+ coincides with the company's 3.0 strategy being introduced this year which focuses on digital smart home and innovative business services.
“Enabling digital smart home services is part of our broader digital strategy, a key area of growth in the years ahead," Omantel CEO Talal Al Mamari said. "Our new strategy goes beyond the rollout of Omantel TV+ across Oman, and indeed touches every aspect of our operational approach, both for retail consumers and corporate clients. We aim to be the nation’s digital partner of choice, helping to bridge the digital divide across all sectors of society and pioneering the rollout of the digital home ecosystem."
