Expectations of companies is growing by the day, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Director General Mohammed Helal Al-Muhairi said.
Al-Muhairi said businesses are no longer solely focused on revenue.
"Companies today are committed to work and behave as a company that is socially responsible, not toward shareholders only, but toward employees, suppliers, customers and the local community as well,” Al-Muhairi said. “The companies which are aware of the importance of social responsibility are assigning resources toward approach. Despite social responsibility is not able to achieve profitability alone, but it is able to add more to the competitiveness capabilities of the company in a business environment that is featured with fierce competition between companies.”
Naya Excellence Group Chairman Imad Saad was one of the first dignitaries to speak at the event, noting that companies that deploy a social responsibility system not only enhance the administration system within the company, but also grow the creativity and positive work environment within the corporation. Social responsibility helps foster a desirable business infrastructure and motivates team members to serve and help their community in areas of environmental risks and beyond.
While social responsibility creates a more engaging, desirable workplace, it also allows for a more competitive edge in the business world and provides added value to customers, Saad said. Businesses that work toward forming partnerships with other organizations within the community will find themselves developing stronger human resources and regularly maintaining basic principles of excellence within the company.
