The Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Jorgensen Law Firm PLLC and Hoda Barakat Legal Consultancy recently held a workshop on drafting and negotiating successful franchise agreements.
Chamber members, lawyers, investors and franchise owners attended the workshop.
The director of the Dubai Chamber's legal services department, Jehad Kazim, and attorney Hoda Barakat discussed the concept of franchise businesses, the legal risks and the importance of franchise agreements.
Franchising allows franchisors and investors to expand brands while keeping costs low with less risk. A good franchise agreement protects both the franchisor and franchisee by laying out the terms of the agreement, with the expectations and obligations of both sides spelled out in the contract.
The workshops organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce assist potential franchisees as they learn about the positive aspects of franchising, the business relationship between franchisor and franchisee and how the contract protects their rights.
One benefit of a franchise is that it provides job opportunities for young people. The chamber serves as a business facilitator and supports local businessmen and entrepreneurs by reaching out with workshops and opportunities to enter new markets in the region.
