Marina FM and HERE, a provider of mapping and location technology, have launched a radio data system traffic messaging channel (RDS-TMC) in Kuwait, offering real-time traffic information to drivers.
RDS-TMC offers a cost-effective solution for drivers to receive traffic data directly on their vehicles' head units or personal navigation devices. No wireless or data package is required.
"HERE Real Time Traffic provides up-to-the-minute information about current traffic conditions, helping drivers make the best decision about the rest of their journey by improving the accuracy of arrival times," Tony Belkin, head of HERE traffic services, said. "As a leading provider of high-quality traffic information across the globe, HERE creates for each market a custom approach to deliver information to drivers in the most effective format possible."
HERE Real Time Traffic is available in multiple formats and distribution options, including DAB+, RDS, HD radio, connected APIs and TPEG. HERE Real Time Traffic for connected devices has been available in Kuwait since last June and will expand in coming months throughout the Gulf region.
The system updates traffic information every minute from multiple sources, including speed probes taken from cars and mobile devices.
