Oman Air recently teamed up with Checkport Switzerland to offer airline security personnel training on how to quickly and efficiently carry out an aircraft search.
"Oman Air is in agreement with Checkport for security training on an annual basis depending on Oman Air’s request," Oman Air Security Vice President Ali Bin Abdulla Al Harthy said. "We intend to acquire further trainings for our team on various aspects of security throughout this venture with Checkport."
The training, held at Muscat International Airport, was provided as a way to enhance the safety of Oman Air passengers. It consisted of classroom-based sessions that focused on a variety of topics including search procedures, instant emergency response and how to communicate with search teams. There was also practical training which featured search exercises conducted onboard an aircraft followed by a briefing discussing the search results. Participants familiarized themselves with the interior of the aircraft before the search exercises commenced.
The 36 airline personnel who took part in the training will share what they learned with those staff members involved in aircraft operation.
