The Dubai Ministry of Finance (MoF) held its annual forum earlier this week at Sofitel Downtown Dubai.

The annual forum witnessed the presence of Obaid Al Tayer, minister of state for financial affairs; Younis Al Khoori, undersecretary of MoF; in addition to MoF assistant undersecretaries, directors and employees, and a number of representatives from ministries and MoF's strategic partners.

Al Tayer delivered the opening speech.

"2015 was an eventful year and witnessed several UAE initiatives," he said. "One of the most important initiative is the 'Year of Innovation,' which saw the launch of several activities and programs aimed at improving the quality of services delivered, achieving the federal government's vision, improving performance and efficiency of human resources, and strengthening the capacity of infrastructure to contribute to the competitiveness levels and attract investments and economic activities."

The forum is a platform formed to recognize strategic partners and employees who have helped the ministry achieve its initiatives and key objectives.

"Any entity's success is built on collaboration, specifically if it follows the directions and strategy of our wise leadership," Al Tayer said. "The ministry has been keen from the outset to establish partnerships and evolve in different fields in order to improve the quality levels in its work, and support other institutions to maximize benefits. One of the most important highlights with regards to the Ministry's partnerships is building a strong network of regional and international agreements on the avoidance of double taxation on income and protection and promotion of investment, which have created a number of opportunities. Other beneficial agreements include the internal ones on exchanging experiences, best practices and adopting initiatives."
