A training program, “Basics and Principals of Computer,”  for 18 attendees from the Qatari Cultural Social Center for the Deaf recently ended with a ceremony held at the Qatar Chamber.

Qatar Chamber Director General Saleh Hamad Al Sharqi, who was present for the ceremony, said  the chamber is eager to work with all individuals to build skills and develop the potential of those who live within the region.

Also attending the ceremony was Head of the National Committee for Recruitment of Special Needs Khalid Al Sheaibi, Chairman of the Qatari Cultural Social Center for the Deaf Abdulla Al Mulla and General Manager Saleh Al Marri.

The training program is part of an agreement signed with the committee with the objective of advancing the skills of physically challenged people and helping prepare them for the work force, Al Sharqi said.

In addition to the partnership with the committee, the chamber also plans to host seminars and training opportunities to make those with disabilities aware of job openings in the private sector of Qatar. As part of this initiative, the chamber will meet with the leaders of private sector firms and encourage them to employ those with disabilities when the skill set is needed.

After making those with disabilities aware of job opportunities, the chamber will also organize skill development programs so those with a handicap are skilled in different types of job.
