A top-ranking executive with the Bahraini-Saudi Joint Business Council of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently praised the development of universities in Bahrain.

Abdulhakeem Al Shemeri, executive bureau member and head of the Bahraini portion of the Bahraini-Saudi Joint Business Council highlighted the partnership between the universities and the Higher Education Council as a main factor in the success of the schools. Al Shemeri also noted seasoned Bahraini leadership as a contributing factor.

Al Shemeri applauded the influence from local universities in the growth of Bahrain’s educated and skilled workforce. He recognized the schools’ effort to recruit students from local regions as well as attracting numerous GCC and Arab students.

A reason for concern, Al Shemeri said, is the fact that local universities were denied accreditation by the Ministries of Education of GCC and Arab countries. He called on the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Bahrain to take action in addressing the challenge to improve the status of education in Bahrain and to grow the education offered to a desirable feature for students within the region.
