Daleel Petroleum, based in Oman, recently said it achieved a 92 percent Omanization rate – the rate at which it attracts Omani employees.
Petroleum is a vital to Oman and considered a dynamic generator for the economy. However, within the oil and gas sector, expatriates are needed for their experience and competencies. Daleel said it has made it a goal to utilize these expatriates to transmit their knowledge to the local workforce.
Following a number of policy implementations, the company has managed to attract Omani employees, train and develop them and grow many into leaders within Daleel.
"The future challenge that we could see is to sustain the current percentage while the workforce market is determined by a number of variable factors; mainly is supply and demand of competent workers and other related issues to the market itself,” Ahmed Al Kharusi, human resources administrator and IT Manager, said. “Our mission at Daleel Petroleum is to maintain the percentage while functioning in line with the directives of His Majesty.”
