Dubai Chamber workshop aimed at helping businesses expand into Africa

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently held a workshop in conjunction with Coface Emirates Services aimed at helping its members expand into the African market and providing them informative business services.

“These workshops help UAE-based investors to grasp on-the-ground, practical, and real-time information on opportunities to trade credit, success stories and major challenges as emerging markets in Africa have a higher return but also a higher risk,” Omar Khan, director, International Offices, Dubai Chamber, said.

The workshop, focused on opportunities in Kenya, was part of the Business Beyond Borders Series that has included gatherings titled “Africa - Turn Risks Into Rewards” and “Trade Credit Management Solutions.”

“These Business Beyond Borders workshops complement the efforts of our international offices in Africa in consolidating bilateral trade ties and economic cooperation between UAE businesses and their African counterparts,” Khan said.

Those attending the workshop included Consul General of Kenya in Dubai Kariuki Mugwe,  MiDCOM Group Managing Director Akash Kumar as well as chamber members looking to enter international markets.

“The ramifications of modern trade make it imperative to conduct a risk assessment for companies looking to enter a new market,” Massimo Falcioni, CEO of Middle East Countries, Coface, said.
