The United Arab Emirates Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) recently announced academic membership in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST).
ITU is a specialized agency of the United Nations that focuses on information and communication technology issues.
AUST believes the membership will be a key step in its roadmap toward scientific and academic development. With the membership, the university can enhance its academic levels by being in the know about the latest developments in information technology. Additionally, students of Ajman University can now take courses in the domain of radio communications and the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA). They can connect with international researchers across the world, at more than 100 universities and research centers.
AUST’s membership comes on the heels of Higher Colleges of Technology’s (HCT) plans to use its membership to enhance the university’s academic path and foster global partnerships. Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi also received an invitation for membership.
For its part, the TRA noted its support of the universities, stating that it is focused on strengthening ties with all educational and academic institutions in the UAE.
