A group of nine students from Belgrade in Serbia has completed the first phase of engineering training in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and will take on practical learning experiences with Etihad Airways Engineering.

Several groups of engineering trainees, including Italian and Seychellois graduates, are also gaining experience with the UAE’s national carrier. Etihad has strong ties to Italy, the Seychelles and Serbia through its partnerships in Alitalia, Air Seychelles and Air Serbia.

New trainees will continue learning in the engineering division of the Etihad Aviation Group (EAG). Etihad Airways Engineering currently provides maintenance services, supply-chain management and design engineering to Etihad Airways, as well as partner and third-party airlines.

The graduate engineering programs are conducted as a partnership with the Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi. The course includes two years of theory training at the college, followed by two years of practical training with Etihad Airways Engineering for graduates to receive their licenses. The license is accepted by both the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

“We’re growing Etihad Airways Engineering to ensure that we are recognized as a global leader in maintenance, repair and operations (MRO)," Jeff Wilkinson, CEO of Etihad Airways Engineering, said. “This means the opportunities available to these graduates are unrivaled in the industry."
