A newly signed Memorandum of Understanding between Abu Dhabi Mubadala Development Company (Mubadala) and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) aims to develop and grow the council’s community outreach program.

Mubadala has long been recognized as Abu Dhabi’s leading investment and development company, and is now partnering with ADSC in events covering tennis, football, cycling and long-distance running, most of which will take place at Zayed Sports City, noted as the best multi-sports complex in the UAE and home to the UAE’s national stadium.

“We are always keen on activating partnerships with governmental institutions, which contributes to strengthening the development of the sports and community,” Aref Al Awani, general secretary of ADSC, said. “We look forward to working with our partners at Mubadala to build on the successes they’ve already achieved through their community engagement program, by expanding this even further. I am confident that this partnership will grow from strength to strength, achieving the goals of the memorandum and the aspirations of the UAE in general.”

The MoU includes the addition of several sporting events including, two community cycling competitions in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, a long-distance running event and the enlargement of the Mubadala Football Tournament. The football tournament has been renamed Mubadala Community Football League and has expanded from one week tournament to a seven month long league that will include participation from nearly 800 players. Finally, an extended version of the Mubadala Community Tennis Cup season, scheduled for three weeks, is also included in the agreement.

“Through our programs and partnerships, our aim is to not only empower UAE nationals to realize opportunities in various business sectors which serve Abu Dhabi’s economic diversification, but to support the development of a well-rounded generation,” Khaled Al Qubaisi, group chief human capital officer and community wellbeing ambassador at Mubadala, said. “We have created community events and programs in football and tennis to encourage the public to maintain an active lifestyle. This partnership with ADSC means we not only strengthen our existing community program, but add exciting events and sports to our current offering, such as cycling.”

The Mubadala Football Tournament and Mubadala Tennis in Schools, both a part of the Mubadala’s community program, encourage the community to be active and healthy and maintain a sustainable energetic lifestyle.
