Doha College recently
revamped its leadership, resulting in what it believes to be a strong
team with a comprehensive approach to all aspects of the school’s progress in
its journey toward accomplishing its mission.
The team consists of Dr.
Steffen Sommer as principal; Paul Young as senior vice principal and head of
secondary; Christine Walker as senior vice principal and head of primary; Ian
Thornhill as business development director; James Conly as vice principal of
student services; Neil Thomas as vice principal of teaching and quality
assurance; Nicola Meikle as assistant principal of transition; Uzma Zaffar as
assistant principal of admissions and assessment; and Bill Waller as campus
development director.
“I have been working at
Doha College for 10 years and all of it has been an absolute privilege,” Young
said. “The opportunities for students and staff in and outside of the classroom
are immense. Having previously taught in just the secondary sector, it is now a
delight to see students' progress from the primary section of the college all
the way through to the 6th Form; and for so many of our students to
subsequently come back and visit us while at university and still feel a part
of the college is a testament to the friendly 'DC Experience,' which resonates
in all we do."
