CENG Qatar Transportation
and Traffic Safety Center (QTTSC) recently conducted a roundtable discussion on road
safety in conjunction with the International Association of Traffic and Safety
Sciences (IATSS) in Japan.
At the event, experts from QTTSC,
IATSS, the National Traffic Safety Committee, Qatar Ministry of Interior (MOI)
and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) discussed policies, strategies and
technologies for improving safety conditions in the two countries.
“It aligns with CENG’s
commitment to raise community awareness of the importance of traffic
safety,” CENG Dean Dr. Khalifa Al-Khalifa said. “Road safety represents an
important pillar of CENG research plan as there is significant increase in the
traffic flow on the roads in Qatar. It is critical that we enhance our
strategic partnerships with local and international organizations to find
sustainable solutions for road safety risks and challenges that stand at the
heart of the welfare of the people of Qatar.”
IATSS project leader
Professor Hideki Nakamura gave a presentation at the event about the status of
traffic safety in Japan.
“Our partnership with
QTTSC on projects and programs related to traffic safety contributes to
pursuing advanced studies in areas that benefit the society in Qatar and Japan,” Nakamura said.
