Divine Connect recently won first place at the Innovation 4 Impact Awards.
Organized in collaboration with the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), Dubai Islamic Economy Development Center and Thomas Reuters, the awards recognize innovative ideas and business ventures that would have an economic and social impact on the Islamic digital economy.
Divine Connect was given a $20,000 cash prize and numerous business incubator services worth over $10,000 for its translation handsets that would allow non-Arabic speaking Muslims visiting Islam holy sites to hear Friday prayers in their own languages, in real-time.
"I am very humbled with this recognition," Divine Connect President and CTO Mohamed Pazhoor said. "We want to take our project to the global level and welcome investors and partners. We remain committed and have an intention to set up a production and operation centre in Dubai."
Divine Connect was chosen as the top winner from among five finalists.
"We would like to congratulate all those who made it to the finals," Badr Buhannad, executive vice president of corporate strategy and ICT at DSOA, said. "They are the trendsetters in the Islamic digital economy, and their innovative business solutions are true examples of how we can take the Islamic economy to a new level."
