A self-registration system for a SAADA health insurance scheme
for Dubai nationals was launched Oct. 16 by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) at
the DHA booth during the 36th Gitex technology week.
Noted as one of the smartest insurance schemes in the world,
SAADA translates to “happiness” in Arabic. It is designed for all nationals who
are not currently covered under another form of health care funded by the
government. The third-party administrator for this insurance plan is NextCare.
Nationals will be able to self-register at one of four
kiosks that will be made available during phase one of the rollout. Participants
can find the closest self-registration kiosk to them by downloading the SAADA
app and enroll by using their Emirates ID card.
Participants can complete the process in less than five
minutes and will have the opportunity to enroll family members as well. A separate
insurance will not be needed to receive care. After registration, SAADA
participants can receive health care immediately by using the Emirate ID card.
“The process is highly convenient, it is in line with the authority’s smart health initiatives and aims to provide users with convenience,” Dr. Haidar Al Yousuf, director of health funding for DHA, said. “Once they
register themselves, they can use the SAADA app, which has a plethora of useful
features. They can even rate the service of their provider. If the rating is
one, or two they need to provide a reason for that rating. Rating one and two
will be registered in our system as complaints. We will then reach out to the
provider and enquire about why the quality of service provided was not
up to the mark. The process is one of our mechanisms to help ensure patients
have access to high-quality care. Eventually this is in line with our vision of
making Dubai the best health care system in the world and convenience and
benchmarking are important factors to achieve that.”
SAADA members can rate their experience, explore the details
of benefits offered, check on a claim status and insurance limit, scroll
through network providers and find a health care center closest to them through the SAADA app.
Participants who wish to avoid the self-registration process
can schedule an appointment through the website www.saada.ae
or SAADA app to enroll.
