ManageEngine, an IT management company, announced the launch
of its Patch Connect Plus software at the 36th GITEX Technology Week
being held in Dubai.
Patch Connect Plus used Microsoft System Center
Configuration Manager (SCCM) to manage patches for third-party applications.
The goal of the product is to reduce vulnerabilities throughout a client’s
network. It does so by using an organization’s existing SCCM
infrastructure to update non-Microsoft Office applications.
“Patch Connect Plus lets Microsoft SCCM users completely
automate the management of non-Microsoft updates using their existing
infrastructure and console,” Mathivanan Venkatachalam, director of product
management for Patch Connect Plus at ManageEngine, said. “In turn, users don’t need
to set up a new tool, reconfigure their clients or learn how to use a new
product. And the large catalog of supported, third-party applications will help
users combat all system vulnerabilities and assure security from attackers.”
According to a report titled “2016 Trends in
Cybersecurity,” less than 10 percent of software
vulnerabilities concern Microsoft software. Therefore, the Patch Connect Plus
program can target more than 90 percent of software vulnerabilities.
