The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation recently
announced its third annual Knowledge Summit, which will take place Dec. 5-7 in Dubai under the slogan “Knowledge – Present and
Future.”
The event will explore the concept of planning for the
future while highlighting Dubai’s unique experience in
this domain.
The summit will also tackle concepts considered vital for
developing countries like reading, which forms the basis of such industries as
knowledge, medicine, technology and education.
Because of reading’s
importance in accessing knowledge, the summit will witness the launch of the “Reading
Index,” a tool created in conjunction with the Development
Program of the United Nations (UNDP). The program handles knowledge initiatives
and measures its impact on the Arab region.
Specific sessions at the conference will examine the current
state of reading in the Arab world, the potential of current initiatives to
develop the state of reading, and the concept of the “media
of the future” -- and the role they can play in
shaping individual personalities.
