The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Qatar
recently hosted the Qatar Transport Safety Forum in an effort to improve safety
across the transportation network.
Transportation experts from around the region came together
under the patronage of Jassim Al-Sulaiti, minister of Transport and
Communications. In attendance at the event was Mohammad Al Rumehi, minister of Municipality and Environment.
Rashid Al Nabet, director of the ministry’s Road
Transport Planning Department, opened the conference with a video about the
current projects underway at the Ministry. Mohamed Al Malki, general secretary for the National Traffic Safety Committee, Ministry of Interior, then spoke
about the country’s vision for improving safety on
the roads. The vision falls in line with the United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals.
Many companies and organization in attendance praised the
Ministry for putting on the event.
“We would really like to thank the
Ministry of Transport and Communications for their constant support in the lead
up to this event and I would personally like to thank H.E. Mr. Jassim Saif
Ahmed Al-Sulaiti for his personal attention to this conference,” Mohaned El-Mahgoub, conference director from IQPC Middle East, said. “Safety
is something that needs to be driven from the top and with his vision and
direction, I only see huge improvements in Qatar.”
