Petroleum group honors Saudi Aramco

Sunil Kokal, principal consultant at Saudi Aramco, recently earned the highest individual honor given out by the Society of Petroleum Engineers at the group's annual conference.

Kokal, who received the Honorary Membership Award at SPE's 2016 Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in October, has spent more than three decades in the reservoir engineering field. He was joined by David Kersey, senior petroleum engineering consultant at Saudi Aramco, who earned the SPE Distinguished Membership Award for his volunteer service and technical contributions.

Saudi Aramco's SPE Chapter also won the 2016 President's Award for Section Excellence.
"This prestigious award recognizes SPE sections with remarkable programs," Fahad Al-Mutairi, chairman of   SPE's Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Section, said. "The SPE-KSA team’s endeavors to go beyond routine practices have clearly distinguished it among 207 sections across the globe. This substantial achievement was only possible with the dedication, commitment, and hard work of the whole SPE-KSA team."

Bandar Al-Khamies, a member of the SPE Distinguished Lecturers Selection Committee, earned the Young Member Outstanding Service Award. He has served as a representative for Saudi Aramco at the World Economic Forum, and co-led the Saudi Arabian national petroleum and natural gas company's Young Leaders Advisory Board.
