The Gulf Organization for Research & Development (GORD) has granted the “2016 Sustainability Award” to Hamad Port.

The port was listed in the Light Industry Ports category and received the honor for its noteworthy practices geared toward sustainability.

Companies within and outside of Qatar are recognized with GORD’s Sustainability Awards when they model leadership and practice sustainability actions depicted in the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) criteria.

GSAS serves as a green building certification system for the State of Qatar, and aims to develop an environment that can meet the needs of Qatar while reducing environmental impacts on the region and be sustainable.

GORD presented the award to Hamad Port during a secondary gathering held during the timing of The Carbon & Climate Change and Sustainability Environment Conference Summit. GORD hosted the summit in collaboration with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy and the Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company.

Numerous businessmen, stakeholders and specialists from the IEA, the UN, the WB and the EU, in addition to those from within public and private industries at Qatar, attended the event.

GORD, which serves as a Qatari governmental organization, focuses on modifying the design of buildings, construction and operations through energy efficient practices and sustainable construction.
