The first year Carnegie Mellon University
Qatar sent a team to the SAP DemoJam competition, the group of students
successfully advanced to the finals in Barcelona, Spain.
CMU-Q students have
participated as individuals in the past, but this is the first year for team participation.
The first phase of the competition is
InnoJam, a 36-hour hackathon battle where competitors utilize SAP technologies
to originate a solution in the realm of research and education.
Noor El-Sakka,
Mehak Manwani, Farjana Salahuddin, Ibrahim Soltan and Mohammed Zakaria -- all CMU-Q
Information Technology students -- created an educational channel with the goal
of connecting higher education entities, employers and students. The platform
facilitates challenges created by companies specific to the needs of the
business.
Ten of the 15 teams that participated in InnoJam
consisted of professionals who are employed within the sector. The CMU-Q team
was joined by only one other university team in advancing to the finals. The
team’s project was presented by Soltan and Manwani, and the audience got to
decide the winners.
The DemoJam presentation can be viewed online.
