In order to
prepare for the 141st Session of the GCC Ministerial Council, the committee in
charge of drafting decision and recommendations scheduled a meeting, opening with a statement from Chairman Ambassador Waheed Sayyar, undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Sayyar voiced appreciation to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia for heading the 36th
Session of the Supreme Council and for the details included in all activities.
He also offered a warm welcome to all participating delegations.
The meeting
focused on the general secretariat’s reports in relation to the GCC joint
action and the leading political issues currently impacting the region.
Sayyar said the meeting also gave attention to the most recent regional developments
and what impact they may have on GCC states.
Participants looked over
recommendations raised to the 37th session, planned for December.
Those in the
meeting also discussed methods of developing a united GCC position to reflect
GCC joint action as it relates to numerous global issues.
The goal is to keep
the interest of the Gulf countries at the forefront of any decision, while
maintaining a strong economic positions and improving the lives of residents in
the region.
