The GCC Preparatory Ministerial Council recently held its
141st session, the 37th focused on the upcoming GCC
Summit, which will be held in December in the kingdom of Bahrain.
Minister
of Foreign Affairs Khalid Al Khalifa opened the
event.
During the opening address, Al Khalifa welcomed the GCC
Foreign Ministers and talked about the need to review topics presented by
ministerial committees for the agenda of the Supreme Council. Specific areas to
review included political, economic and security issues.
Al Khalifa stated that these efforts will help ensure the
unity and security of all member-states and allow them each to further achieve
prosperity for their people.
As part of the meeting, the involved parties discussed the
issues included on the agenda of the preparatory session. This included a
report from the General-Secretariat about implementing the decisions of the
Supreme Council and the Ministerial Council to reach comprehensive joint GCC
work.
The Foreign Ministers also reviewed the latest developments
in regional and international sectors, including the situation in Syria, Libya
and Iraq, as well as international efforts to fight against terrorism.
