The Second International Conference on Nuclear Security: Commitments and Actions took place in Vienna, Austria, Dec. 5–9.

During the event, Republic of Korea Foreign Affairs Minister Yun Byung-se was elected to chair the conference.

Also during the five-day event, the ministerial declaration -- a document that notes the significance of nuclear and world security and the obvious benefits of peace -- was approved.

Dignitaries from a number of countries participated, including the Bahraini undersecretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and head of the National Committee on Prohibition of Weapons of Mass Destruction, Ambassador Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah.

While the main conference took place, a meeting was held between the undersecretary and Philip Webster, nuclear safety counsellor, along with Ramzi Jamal, president at the Seventh Review Meeting of the Convention on Nuclear Safety. Meeting participants discussed opportunities for collaboration between the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Bahrain.

Executive Bureau of the National Disaster Management Committee at the Ministry of Interior and Advisor Chief Fat’hi Al-Sabt -- as well as advisor Fatma Al Dhaen, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs -- comprise the Bahraini delegation.
