The Second International
Conference on Nuclear Security: Commitments and Actions took place in Vienna, Austria, Dec. 5–9.
During the event, Republic of Korea Foreign Affairs Minister Yun Byung-se was elected to chair the conference.
Also during the
five-day event, the ministerial declaration -- a document that notes the
significance of nuclear and world security and the obvious benefits of peace -- was approved.
Dignitaries from a number of
countries participated, including the Bahraini undersecretary for the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs (MOFA) and head of the National Committee on Prohibition of Weapons of Mass
Destruction, Ambassador Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah.
While the main conference took
place, a meeting was held between the undersecretary and Philip Webster, nuclear
safety counsellor, along with Ramzi Jamal, president at the Seventh Review Meeting of
the Convention on Nuclear Safety. Meeting participants discussed opportunities for collaboration
between the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Bahrain.

of the National Disaster Management Committee at the Ministry of Interior and
Advisor Chief Fat’hi Al-Sabt -- as well as advisor Fatma Al Dhaen, from the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs -- comprise the Bahraini delegation.
