The director at International Services Accreditation Council of Pharmacy Education (ACPE) recently delivered a workshop in support of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Ajman University.
Director Mike Rouse was welcomed by Professor Nageeb
Hassan, dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, at the workshop hosted at
Ajman Saray Hotel.
The workshop served as a preliminary step to the College of
Pharmacy being accredited by ACPE.
The benefit of such an accreditation, as
noted by Hassan, is offering global standards in education to current and future
students. In addition, the honor speaks to the level of graduates emerging from
the college as high-level pharmacists who will enter the work force with the
global seal of ACPE, making them more appealing to companies.
The noteworthy accreditation
is also expected to increase the number of applicants interested in attending
the College of Pharmacy’s existing program.
Hassan also noted that the recognition
sets the bar for expectations from both college professors and students. Furthermore, it complements the academic accreditation in the Ministry of Higher
Education and Scientific Research in the United Arab Emirates.
During the workshop, Rouse
spoke to the many benefits of the accreditation and the guidelines implemented
in order for the college to maintain the status. Before concluding the
workshop, the ACPE director voiced his eagerness to work with Ajman University,
as the college is one of the first in its field from the entire United Arab
Emirates.
