The Ministry of Tourism of Oman hosted the 19th
Ministerial Meeting for Arab Tourism Dec. 13-16.
During the two-day
event, tourism ministers, undersecretaries and VIP dignitaries came together
along with representatives from the World Tourism Organization to discuss
topics and developments in the sector.
“This event will focus on
strengthening the relations between the Arab countries and give a boost to the
tourism sector,” Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al
Mahrizi said. “Such efforts will go a
long way in bringing more tourists into the Arab countries, not just from all
over the world but even within the various countries in the region.”
Al Mahrizi noted that the event would examine the challenges
face by the tourism sector.
“We will also look into the
challenges that hinder the process of making tourism a sustainable sector as it
is one of the key pillars of our economy,” he said. “A
booming tourism can contribute significantly to the GDP and create job
opportunities as outlined in the 2040 Tourism Strategy.”
