Islamic organization condemns Syrian regime

The executive committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries recently held an emergency meeting at which it denounced the Syrian regime and its allies for continued military operations, calling the attacks arbitrary and criminal.

The committee, held at the level of minister of foreign affairs, condemned alleged attempts by the Syrian regime to subjugate people through blockades, starvation and intimidation in Aleppo. According to the committee, the Syrian regime has committed crimes against humanity and violated international law, conventions, and humanitarian laws.

The group reiterated its stance that to solve the Syrian crisis, the United Nations must hold negotiations in line with the Geneva Convention of 2012 and UN Security Council Resolution no. 2254. It argued that this is the only possible solution, and that the Syrian opposition and representatives of the Syrian regime must come together to negotiate.
