Qatar University,
Qatar Chamber and Qatar Development Bank recently launched a joint
program to boost entrepreneurship in the country.
The program,
known as "Ma’an” ("Together"), is dedicated to
developing entrepreneurs’ visions, lending mentoring and financial
support, and facilitating business training as well as
technical support.
Working out of Doha, and prioritizing
sustainability in Qatar’s economic development, the three entities
will provide logistical, financial and consulting services. Leaders
from all three emphasized their collective focus on
providing up-and-coming businesses with the proper foundation for
concept development, marketing and the fostering of professional
relationships.
Qatar University President Hassan Al Derham said
that Ma’an represents a model of cooperation between universities
and financial institutions, in alignment with the objectives of Qatar
National Vision 2030. Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa, Qatar
Development Bank’s CEO, concurred, commending the work of both QU
and Qatar Chamber.
Qatar Chamber’s Abdul Rahman Abdul Jaleel
AbdulGhani, who serves as chairman of Ma’an’s board of trustees,
added that the movement originated in the private sector and will
facilitate a growing relationship between private businesses and the
national economy — based on cooperation and knowledge sharing —
to empower new businesses to compete on a global level.
